Prof. Pavel Ripka is currently a Dean of Electrical Engineering and professor at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic. In 2005 and 2007 he was visiting researcher at the National University of Singapore, in 2005/6 visiting scientist at the Institute for the Protection and the Security of the Citizen of European Comission in Ispra, Italy. In 2001 he was Marie Curie Advanced Researcher Fellow at University of Galway, Ireland and in 1990 – 94 he was visiting researcher at the Danish Technical University. He also lectured for CNRS and NATO schools.

His main research interest are magnetic sensors and their applications, including navigation, position sensing, electric current sensing and security. He developed several new types of fluxgate sensors. He was also principal designer for the magnetometer onboard the Czech satellite Mimosa. Besides research project he led numerous industrial projects, including development of bomb locators, detection of vehicles, navigation devices for underground drilling, and magnetic NDT systems. He published 3 books, and 160 journal papers which received 2000 citations.

Pavel was member of Scientific, Program and Advisory Committees of international conferences such as Eurosensors, SMM, Transducers, MM, EMSA, IEEE SSD, IEEE Sensors Conference. He was member of the editorial board of journals such as IEEE Sensors Journal, Technisches Messen, Journal of Sensors, and Measurement Science and Technology.
