Sheng Xu is an assistant professor in the Department of NanoEngineering at UC San Diego. He has degrees in materials science and chemistry. He was trained as a postdoctoral research associate in Prof. John Rogers’ group from 2011 to 2015 at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he developed advanced wearable electronic systems for healthcare applications. His current interests are in designing and fabricating wearable devices for noninvasive diagnosis and even delivering therapies to deep tissues of the human body. His research has been recognized by a series of awards, including the 3M Non-Tenured Faculty Award, Samsung Global Research Outreach Award, and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry Prize for Young Chemists.
